Coach Stephen O’Hara Bio:
Stephen O’Hara was born and raised on Long Island in Bellport, New York where he was a three-sport varsity athlete for Bellport High School in Football, Wrestling, and Lacrosse. Coach O’Hara was a three-year varsity lacrosse player earning an All-Suffolk County Defenseman honor his senior year, as well as being team captain and defensive MVP for two years. Coach O’Hara was also an All-Division offensive guard in varsity football.
After high school, he was recruited by NCAA DII Lenoir-Rhyne University to be a part of their Men’s Lacrosse team where he helped the Bears lay the foundation for their inaugural season in 2010 and continued playing through 2015. While playing at Lenoir Rhyne, Coach O’Hara was a four-year starter, and team captain for two years. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference (Deep South Conference) in 2011, Second Team All-Conference (South Atlantic Conference) in 2013, and First Team All-Conference (South Atlantic Conference) in 2014 and 2015, as well as an All SAC Tournament Defenseman in 2014. While at Lenoir-Rhyne, Stephen helped lead the Bears to a regular season Conference Championship in 2014. Stephen was honored to be selected to Lenoir-Rhyne’s First Team All Decade Team in 2020.
Upon graduating with a BS in K-12 Health and Physical Education, Coach O’Hara returned home and was the Defensive Coordinator for his Alma Mater Bellport High School for one season before being hired by Northview High School in Johns Creek, Georgia to teach Health and PE. Coach O’Hara was the head lacrosse coach at Northview from 2016-2021. During his time at Northview, Coach O’Hara’s teams qualified for the playoffs 75% of his tenured seasons. Coach O’Hara also coached varsity football and softball for the Titans.
Coach O’Hara currently coaches the Thunder 2023 Elite Orange team, as well as the Thunder National 2026 Team.
