Special Invitation to Football Coaches and Families

11/16/2014, 12:15pm EST
By David Harris

Many football programs nationally use Lacrosse as a cross-training opportunity since both games require speed, quickness, agility, and physicality. Programs such as West Forsyth, South Forsyth, and Lambert have been successfully using Lacrosse to a large extent as their off season sport to keep their players playing and training together as a team. Lacrosse benefits to footballers is not limited to the physical benefits of staying in shape, but Lacrosse also assists in gaining an improved vision of the field. Defensive lacrosse players are similar to linebackers in football in how they read offenses, track the ball and protect the goal/end zone. Offensive players cut and move similar to running backs and receivers trying to evade defenders. To that end, we are hoping to grow our partnership with you by providing you with a chance to introduce you to lacrosse so that you may see the benefits it will provide your teams.

The table below points out that Lacrosse is the closest to football across a variety of characteristics that are important to football. For a “second” sport that allows a player to continue to develop the skills needed to excel in the primary sport of football Lacrosse should be the sport of choice.

The North Youth Lacrosse Program (NOFOLAX) would like to introduce you to the game of lacrosse and have you consider having your football player give lacrosse a try this coming spring. We will hold a free learn to play session for the Football program on Saturday December 6 at 3:00pm at Raider Valley (NF High School Stadium). We would like everyone to be there by 2:30 to sign in and observe the last 30 min of the University of Georgia’s Lacrosse Clinic that is being put on for youth programs in the area. We will divide the players into age groups once at the stadium and have a coach with each age group.

We offer an equipment rental program that will furnish your son with the needed safety equipment and in addition we offer all first time football players a 10% discount on the registration fee.
